LARA CARMELA G. FERNANDO

Senior Associate

Ms. Fernando is a senior associate engaged in general practice, with a focus on corporate compliance, regulatory advisory, and property, succession, civil, and labor law.

Before returning to private law practice, she served in the government as an Associate Solicitor and rose through the ranks when she was appointed by the President of the Philippines as a State Solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG). There, she handled expropriation, land registration, civil, and criminal cases, among others, in representation of the Republic of the Philippines, its agencies and officials. She was also chosen to serve at various inter-agency taskforces dealing with cultural and historical properties.

Ms. Fernando began her legal career as a Senior Associate at Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV& Co.), where she handled tax and customs cases for domestic and multinational corporations.

To keep abreast of legal developments, she attended several seminars and programs both in the Philippines and abroad. Some of the notable seminars she participated in were the Advanced Arbitration and Mediation Seminar in Washington, D.C., USA, and the Capacity Development Workshop on Compensation and Damages under International Investment Treaties spearheaded by the International Institute for Sustainable Development. She likewise completed the Philippine Judicial Academy’s Pre-judicature program.

Ms. Fernando holds a degree in Library and Information Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She earned her law degree from San Beda College Manila, where she graduated in the top ten percent (10%) of her class. She was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2016, placing 10th in the 2015 Philippine Bar Examinations.
